Mission: Gan Sinai Early Learning Center at Temple Sinai of North Dade nurtures the growth of curiosity, creativity, and connection in and among our children by providing a Jewish, child-centered, play-based, and family-focused early learning program in a nature-rich environment. We are currently looking for lead and assistant teachers for our growing and thriving program in North Miami Beach.

Lead Teacher Minimum education and experience
Required: at least 21 years old, high school diploma or GED, completion of all state-required early childhood training classes, FCCPC or CDA credential, one year of experience in childcare. Successful applicants are expected to continue formal professional development as offered and required by the center.

Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with appropriate Early Childhood Education classes. Two years of experience.

Assistant Teacher Minimum education and experience
At least 18 years of age; a high school diploma or GED and one year of experience in early childhood education or the 40 hour new hire licensing training. Preferred qualification: A CDA or equivalency credential with one year of experience.

Job Purpose Statement
Provide a healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate program and environment where children have the opportunity to develop social-emotional, language, intellectual and physical skills. Respect and support the family unit in their efforts to raise their children to become well-rounded individuals.

Essential duties
-Ensure a safe and healthy environment at all times by monitoring child areas for hazards or sanitation problems and correcting problems immediately or removing children from hazard until it can be corrected
-Provide appropriate adult supervision for all children at all times (children should not be left alone or permitted to leave the classroom without an adult except under appropriate circumstances)
-Enforce all safety rules of the program according to the policy manual; understand and implement, as needed, emergency procedures for fire, storm, medical, first aid, CPR, etc.)
-Provide experiences and training to help children develop and practice good health/safety habits
-Develop a warm and nurturing relationship with all children and parents.
-Understand and use positive behavior techniques that help each child to develop the ability to be self-disciplined.
-Provide a stimulating, cognitively challenging classroom environment that encourages exploration and experimentation for children of varying ability levels
-Develop and follow a daily schedule that incorporates good early childhood practices (balance of child/teacher-initiated activities, active and passive, etc) and accommodates center needs for shared-use areas
-Provide language and literacy activities (transitions, routines, outdoor play, etc) throughout the entire day
-Evaluate and assess individual child progress at least quarterly using documented evidence and anecdotal observations.
-Maintain a digital portfolio of work for each child that documents growth in language, cognitive skills, and creativity.
-Modify curriculum and activities to meet the needs of children as identified by child evaluation and assessment
-Develop a cooperative working relationship with families by frequent communicate either by phone, email, written note, or personal conversation
-Conduct two formal family conferences yearly with each family in your class following the written procedure for conferences
-Maintain accurate and timely records of accidents, illnesses, medication, attendance, observations, assessments, and family conferences
-Operate the classroom in compliance with all childcare licensing standards and those of our accrediting agency.
-Attend and complete all Licensing training requirements within the time frame set forth by the State.
-Attend staff and parent meetings as scheduled.
-Attend additional workshops, training, and continuing education classes as determined in the individualized training plan.
-Be familiar with and adhere to all policies set forth in the Parent Handbook, the Staff Handbook and the Policy Manual.
-Cooperate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the center

Other duties and tasks
-Contribute to the program’s general appearance and condition; notify the director of any facility problems.
-Maintain common supply areas in a neat orderly fashion, notifying the education director of materials that need to be ordered or re-ordered
-Notify Director as soon as possible in the case of absence or lateness and secure coverage
-Prepare a folder of activities and information to be used by a substitute in case of absence
-Participate in all program evaluations.
-Interact with colleagues, families, and center visitors in a pleasant, professional manner
-Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
-Safely lift small children up to 30 pounds.
-Bend, stoop and kneel to children’s level.
-Sit on the floor and small chairs.
-Stand for extended periods of time.
-Withstand periods of time in the sun and heat outside.
-Communicate clearly and intelligibly in English in both oral and written forms with children, families, and staff.
